Baby Signing Program

Imagine communicating with your baby before he or she can even speak. Sign language for infants reduces frustration, accelerates verbal development and strengthens cognitive skills. It also enhances child-parent bonding through time spent teaching signs to your baby.  Research shows that preverbal infants can communicate through the use of sign language long before they can verbalize their needs.

Babies have the ability to recognize signs and between 4 to 12 months babies can start producing signs themselves.  Usually around the same age babies, in general, babies start to wave "bye-bye" or hold up their hands as if to say "pick me up". 

Becoming Maternity and Parenting Centre is pleased to offer a babysigning class based on Joseph Garcia's award winning Sign with your Baby™ program.  This class will teach parents how to use American Sign Language vocabulary with their babies throughout the day. During the class you will learn over 100 ASL signs, songs and motivating language strategies.

This class runs for 8 weeks and comes with a baby signing manual including signs, songs, developmental information and much more!

Next session: Wednesdays at 11:30 or 3:15pm (Baby and Tot Signing) beginning Sept. 3rd.  Registration required.  To register call the Centre at 416-440-4020.
