Multiples: Preparing for Childbirth and Beyond
Becoming Maternity has developed a series of classes designed to address the special concerns of parents expecting twins, triplets or more. A registered nurse experienced in the care of multiples will provide the latest information and advice based on medical literature and current hospital practices. Some important topics include:
• Awareness and risk reduction for pre-term labour
• Coping with discomforts of multiple pregnancy
• Vaginal birth versus caesarean section—what is different for multiples?
• Caring for preterm or near term babies
• Breastfeeding—Can it be done? Should I combine breast & bottle feeding?
• Getting organized at home and developing a routine
• Where to find help and other community resources
Our program is also invaluable for connecting with other expectant parents, many of whom stay in touch long after the birth. Only a parent of multiples can really understand and appreciate a phone call to compare notes after a good day (or a bad one). Experienced parents often return with their babies to share words of wisdom and the class hangs on every word!
Next Series: Tuesday, March 11, Tuesday, March 18 and March 25th from 6:30-9pm. Call us at 416-440-4020 for more information or to register for the next available class.
Cost: $249 per couple ($224.10 for members)
