Music Together® Baby and Toddler Music Classes

Becoming Maternity and Parenting Centre is thrilled to offer Music Together® music and movement classes.  Music Together® is a music and movement approach to early childhood music development for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and their parents and other primary caregivers. Originally offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. The Music Together® approach develops every child's basic music competence by encouraging the actual experiencing of music rather than the learning of concepts or information about music. It began as an educational project of the Center for Music and Young Children and is now being taught internationally.

Importantly, Music Together® also gives you the ability to bring the joy of music into your home: an integral part of every Music Together® program is the extensive At-Home Materials, including 2 high quality music CDs and a song book.

Becoming Maternity and Parenting Centre offers two different Music Together® programs:

• Babies Class specifically for babies newborn to 8 months

Every child’s development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers both the Mixed Ages Class or a Babies Only class.  The music activities and materials in the Babies Only Class are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in infants. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby. 

  Times: Mondays beginning September 22nd at 10:30am (5 spots available) or 11:30am (FULL)

Wednesdays beginning Sept. 24th at 10:30am (4 spaces available) or 11:30am (FULL) ***NEW CLASSES

  Cost: $200 for 10 weeks including at home materials ($190 for members)

               $25 first time registration fee.

• Mixed Aged Group: babies and children newborn to age four

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. 

   Times: Mondays beginning September 22nd at 12:30pm (NEW CLASS)

Tuesdays beginning September 23rd at 9:30am (4 spaces), 10:30am (space available) or 11:30am (FULL)

             Wednesdays at 1:30pm (NEW CLASS)

Fridays beginnning September 26th at 9:30am (FULL), 10:30am (FULL), 11:30am (4 spots available)
