Fatherhood–Facts and Fantasy

Studies have shown that fathers play a critical role in ensuring positive outcomes for mothers and babies. Yet, amidst all the excitement, the pregnancy and birth experience can leave many men feeling confused and overlooked. Led by an experienced father and facilitator, Becoming Maternity and Parenting’s Fatherhood course looks at pregnancy, childbirth and parenting from the male perspective.

The course covers the following topics:
• Encounters with the pregnant body—for better or worse
• Practical aspects of the father’s role during the birth process
• The changing roles of new and expectant fathers
• Anticipating lifestyle changes and interacting with your new baby
• Recognizing postpartum depression and coping with returning to work
